The 5th session of the Italy-Algeria Strategic Dialogue took place at the Farnesina

The fifth session of the Italy-Algeria Strategic Dialogue took place today at the Farnesina, attended by the Secretary General of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Algerian Community Abroad, Ambassador Lounès Magramane.

In his speech, Ambassador Guariglia highlighted the importance that the Italian government and Minister Tajani attach to the partnership with Algeria, emphasising that the Strategic Dialogue represents a key opportunity to strengthen cooperation with Algiers. He also highlighted the importance of the Mattei Plan - for which Algeria is a focus country - as a framework for further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Following the speeches by the two Secretaries General, the three co-chairs of the working groups presented the conclusions of their respective sessions on political and security cooperation, economic cooperation and the Mattei Plan, and bilateral cooperation on technical and cultural matters.

On the sidelines of the Strategic Dialogue, the two Secretaries General held bilateral consultations focusing on the key issues of the shared agenda. The discussions focused on prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation and the main regional and international issues of mutual interest.
