Fall is in the air and leaves are beginning to drop. This is a good time to remind residents about the City's yard waste collection rules in place for all yard waste.
What to do:
1. Put your fall yard waste, including leaves, in your 95-gallon gray yard waste cart(s).
2. Bag additional leaves using biodegradable paper yard waste bags and/or bundle sticks with natural twine.
• Up to 10 bags/bundles will be collected from the curb weekly year-round.
• From November 1 to February, crews will collect up to 15 biodegradable paper bags/bundles of yard waste from the curb.
3. Leave Your Leaves where they fall. Leaves provide important habitats for many different species.
4. Compost or mulch your leaves.
If you need a second 95-gallon gray yard waste cart, call 336-373-2489 to purchase one for a one-time fee of $65.
Remember that leaves should not be raked or blown into the curb, right-of-way, or street. Improperly prepared leaves that create a nuisance may be reported to the City's Code Compliance Division at 336-373-2111. Fines vary and additional fees may be added if a situation is not resolved in a timely manner.
As a reminder, burning yard waste, including leaves, is not permitted within Greensboro city limits.
