Bridge Repairs to the Mixmaster Interchange Route 8 and I-84 in Waterbury

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing bridge repairs will be performed on I-84 and Route 8 Mixmaster interchange in Waterbury. This project is scheduled to occur on Monday, May 4 and be completed on Friday, October 9, 2026. This project ensures the bridges remain in a state of good repair.

The bridges being repaired are:

• Exit 20 Eastbound Ramp (Bridge 03191D)
• I-84 Eastbound Over Jackson Street (Bridge 03191A)
• I-84 Westbound Over Bank Street (Bridge 03193)
• Route 8 Northbound Near River Street (Bridge 03190A)

This project is being performed by Hammonasset Construction.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

There will be left or right lane closures on the Mixmaster in Waterbury (Route 8, I-84 interchange) from May 4 to October 9, 2026, from the hours of 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Monday-Friday. Traffic control signing patterns will be in place with State Police to guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
