On 12 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit in New Delhi, Republic of India.

The two sides exchanged views on the global economic trends and global trading system, and underscored the importance of upholding rules-based multilateral trading system, with the WTO at its core, and to expedite the WTO reform process to ensure a level playing field in international trade.
