PHILADELPHIA - United States Attorney David Metcalf announced that Seth S. Jones, 46, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to 14 months in prison and three years of supervised release by United States District Judge Gerald J. Pappert for defrauding two Philadelphia-area non-profit companies out of $322,798. Judge Pappert also ordered Jones to pay $322,798 in restitution.
The defendant was charged by information in June and pleaded guilty in July to two counts of wire fraud.
As detailed in court filings and statements, Jones worked in the finance department of Non-Profit Company #1, which was a parent company to Non-Profit Company #2. From May 2021 to June 2025, the defendant defrauded the non-profit companies by using a company credit card to pay for approximately $291,023 in personal expenses, including travel, gambling debts, Amazon purchases, rent, utilities, and car payments, and diverting approximately $31,775 in funds from a bank account associated with Non-Profit Company #2 to bank accounts controlled by him. In order to carry out and conceal the fraud scheme, Jones falsified expense reports, failed to submit expense reports, and created fake invoices.
This case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Francis A. Weber and John G. Iannacone.
