November 14, 2025 - As part of the City of Midland's participation in the National Flood Insurance Program, specifically its Community Rating System, the City is evaluating areas that have experienced repetitive flooding and potential flood damage. This effort will result in a Repetitive Loss Area Analysis that includes a review of all previous flood data and studies completed within the city, identification of areas of concern and contributing factors to repetitive flood losses, and recommendations for strategies to reduce future losses to structures at risk of repetitive flooding. Residents can participate in this process by completing a short survey or attending an upcoming open house.
The Repetitive Loss Area Analysis survey invites property owners to share relevant flooding information to help the City better understand flood risks to structures and identified areas. The survey will close on January 31, 2026 and can be accessed here: Repetitive Loss Area Analysis Survey.
In addition, the Planning Department will host an open house on Thursday, November 20 from 2 - 5 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, located at 333 W. Ellsworth St. Attendees will have the opportunity to review maps and provide input to City of Midland staff and representatives from the City's consultant, Tetra Tech.
