Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Romania Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu, on the margins of the Warsaw Security Forum.

Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović congratulated Deputy Prime Minister Moșteanu on his appointment and the formation of the new government, emphasizing Montenegro's commitment to further strengthening cooperation with Romania in the field of defence and security. He expressed gratitude for Romania's continuous support and highlighted the importance of the alliance and the friendly relations between the two countries.

The meeting focused on key global security challenges, including the influence of major powers on political and military developments in Europe and beyond. Both sides stressed the need to reinforce national defence capacities and establish reliable security mechanisms that would enable effective conflict prevention and protection of citizens. In the context of current crises, they underlined that ceasing hostilities and intensifying dialogue remain the foundation for stability and long-term peace, while at the same time enhancing the capacities of international institutions to respond to security threats.

Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović expressed gratitude to Romania for its consistent support, underscoring that EU membership is the best response to the challenges faced by the region and the entire European continent.

Montenegro's European integration also represents a contribution to strengthening the security of the European Union itself, Ivanović stressed.

Deputy Prime Minister Moșteanu affirmed that Romania likewise views EU enlargement as a guarantee of Europe's security, adding that Montenegro can count on strong political support on its European path. He also underlined that Romania stands ready to provide all necessary expert assistance in the final stage of negotiations, so that Montenegro can meet its objective of closing all negotiation chapters by the end of 2026.

On the margins of the Forum, Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović also attended a formal dinner hosted in honor of the participants by Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski.
