The City of Grand Prairie's Communications and Marketing department was nominated for a Lone Star Emmy Award for "Remember and Reflect: Memorial Day in Grand Prairie."
This is the second Emmy nomination in two years for the department which won a Lone Star Emmy for its 2025 "Amor GP" Hispanic Heritage Month video series.
The department's second Emmy-nominated segment highlights the Epic Remembrance American flag display, honoring fallen service members and first responders. The name and service of one honoree is attached to each flag pole by volunteers representing veterans support organization The One Tribe Foundation.
"We have to remember and honor them, said Jacob Schick, One Tribe Foundation CEO in the interview. "They gave everything for us to be where we are right now. Our fallen brothers and sisters deserve that much."
The City's Communications and Marketing department interviewed Schick among the of flags on a partly cloudy afternoon in May.
"It's a solemn privilege to be able to tell the stories of our community's fallen heroes," said Eric Alvarez, assistant director of Grand Prairie Communications and Marketing. "Awards and recognitions are great, but honoring their service, and One Tribe Foundation's continuing efforts to support veterans and the families of those we've lost means so much more."
The Lone Star Emmy Award winners will be announced November 14 in Houston.
