NAVER Cloud (CEO Kim Yuwon) announced on September 10 that it will collaborate with SK Hynix to innovate AI service performance and efficiency. By applying SK Hynix's latest hardware to its large-scale data centers while optimizing data center software, NAVER Cloud plans to improve AI service response time and reduce operating costs.
With the recent rapid spread of generative AI, cost reduction in service operations and response time optimization have emerged as key challenges, while memory and storage efficiency supporting GPU performance are becoming important differentiating factors in AI competitiveness. Through this collaboration, NAVER Cloud will achieve practical results by applying SK Hynix's next-generation memory solutions, such as Compute Express Link (CXL) and Processing-In-Memory (PIM), to real AI services, improving GPU utilization efficiency and reducing power consumption.
This collaboration enables NAVER Cloud to secure its optimization experience encompassing data center infrastructure and software, further complementing its competitiveness as a full-stack AI company. In doing so, it also aims to contribute to strengthening sovereign AI infrastructure based on domestic technology.
The two companies will also pursue various collaborative activities, including joint research, patent applications, and participation in international AI conferences. Through these efforts, they plan to actively promote their technological achievements to the global market and accelerate the expansion of the AI ecosystem across industries.
Kim Yu-won, CEO of NAVER Cloud, stated, "AI service competitiveness depends on optimizing entire data center infrastructure, not just software," adding, "Through collaboration with a leading global AI memory semiconductor company, we will strengthen our competitiveness from infrastructure to services and provide customers with more innovative AI experiences."
Meanwhile, SK Hynix's President and Chief Development Officer (CDO) Ahn Hyun said, "Through rigorous verification in real commercial environments, we will provide the highest level of memory solutions required by the global AI ecosystem, solidifying our position as a leading AI memory company," adding, "Starting with this collaboration, we will actively expand technical partnerships with global Cloud Service Provider (CSP) customers."
