Port Clinton City School District Announces Flagship Award to Bergman Orchards

The Port Clinton Board of Education presented a Flagship Award to Chris Bergman of Bergman Orchards at the April 13 meeting.

The Flagship Awards are part of the district's recognition program that honors parents, community members and staff who help the district fulfill its motto, "Proudly Charting a Course for Success." The program includes three categories: Captain for staff, First Mate for parents and Crew for community.

Bergman and Bergman Orchards were presented with a Flagship Crew Award for their exceptional support and dedication to the Port Clinton City School District.

Bergman Orchards consistently meets the educational needs of the district with flexibility and enthusiasm. Each fall, they partnered with SNAP-Ed for the Great Apple Crunch, allowing Bataan Memorial Primary students to sample both green and red apples and vote for their favorite.

Every October, Bergman Orchards donates pumpkins to Bataan Memorial Intermediate for a third-grade lesson that combines math and science. Students cut open the pumpkins, count and dry the seeds, and teachers turn the seeds into snacks the following day. Third-grade teachers say the popular, hands-on activity would not be possible without the generosity of Bergman Orchards.

The Port Clinton Board of Education expressed their gratitude to Chris Bergman and Bergman Orchards for their unwavering commitment to students and education.
