"We are grateful to God for all the good work that Shannon Bedo does for international students. She has great experience and a sincere heart for the work," said HCU President Robert Sloan.

In a speech announcing this year's recipient, the NAFSA organization described Bedo as an individual who has "played a pivotal role in elevating Texas on the global stage."
Through leadership in the Study Texas consortium, she has organized recruitment tours, workshops and initiatives that have connected institutions across the state to students around the world-opening doors and creating opportunities for countless learners.
Bedo's influence is also deeply felt through mentorship and professional development. As a Trainer Corps member and a trusted colleague, she has guided and inspired professionals across Texas, always leading with generosity, kindness and a genuine desire to uplift others.
But perhaps what sets Bedo apart most is her heart. She is known not only for her accomplishments but also for the way she builds relationships, creates community and make others feel seen and supported. Her impact is both measurable and deeply personal - reflected in the students she serves, the colleagues she mentors and the networks she strengthens.
As this year's recipient, Bedo was also commended by NAFSA for the meaningful relationships she builds and the inclusive communities she fosters. Her impact is reflected not only in measurable achievements, but also in the students she supports, the colleagues she mentors and the networks she strengthens.
