2026 Candidate Qualifying

The Alabama Democratic Party will open the candidate qualifying period for the 2026 election cycle on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 9 AM. Candidate qualifying will close on Friday, January 23rd at 5 PM.

Those wishing to qualify as a Democrat can now complete the process completely online at aldemocrats.org. Instructions for how to complete the process will be published on the ADP website on January 5th at the opening of qualifying.

While we strongly encourage everyone looking to qualify to use the online option, those wishing to submit their paperwork in-person may visit the Alabama Democratic Party Headquarters during the operating hours listed on the Party website.

Candidates qualifying for the following offices will qualify with the Alabama Democratic Party. All other offices should qualify with their county party during their qualifying period, but no later than January 23rd, 2026.

State Treasurer

State Auditor

Commissioner of Agriculture & Industries

State Board of Education (Seats 2, 4, 6, and 8)

Court of Civil Appeals Judge (Places 4, 5)

Court of Criminal Appeals Judge (Places 4, 5)

Circuit Court Judge

District Court Judge

Public Service Commission (Places 1, 2)
