Aggravated Battery with a Firearm

(PEORIA, IL) On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at approximately 6:09 p.m., Peoria Police officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of N. Lehman Road on a report of a person shot.

Upon arrival, officers located a 12-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Members of the Peoria Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Special Investigations Division (SID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified a 15-year-old male as the suspect in this case.

On Monday, September 8, 2025, Peoria Detectives learned that the juvenile suspect was in custody at the Jacksonville Police Department in Jacksonville, Illinois, for an unrelated incident. Detectives served an arrest warrant, and the juvenile was extradited to Peoria. He was interviewed at the Peoria Police Department and subsequently arrested for Aggravated Battery.

The juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

This incident remains under investigation.
