More severe weather is likely in our area on Friday, April 17, 2026. In addition to potential wind and hail hazards, the City of Madison is monitoring the expected repeated rounds of heavy rainfall on Friday. A Flood Watch for flash flooding is in effect from 1 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2026, afternoon until 7 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2026, morning. Because the ground is already saturated from storms all this week, flash flooding is more likely and may add to lingering river and lowland flooding
The National Weather Service expects our area to receive about 0.75 inches to 1.25 inches of rainfall, with some areas locally receiving higher amounts.
Please do not drive through flooded roadways.
Please remain alert for possible flood advisories for Flash Flood warnings.
Flash Flooding can occur anywhere throughout the City when the stormwater infrastructure cannot convey the amount of water that is falling.
Urban flash flooding is likely in historically flash flooded areas of the City.
Please refer to the City's historical street flooding map to identify other flood prone locations, which include:
Please use caution near creeks and streams. If you live or drive near a river or creek, please monitor the river levels and do not walk or drive through floodwaters.
