NEW: Trump and Republicans Want To Make Even More Cuts to Health Care To Pay for Their War of Choice With Iran Arrow

As Donald Trump and JD Vance continue their unpopular war of choice with Iran, Republicans are now considering devastating cuts to health care funding to help pay for their war.

Trump and Republicans already cut Medicaid by nearly $1 TRILLION - the largest cut to health care in history - which is projected to leave an additional 15 million people uninsured when combined with Republicans' refusal to extend the Affordable Care Act enhanced premium tax credits. Since the ACA tax credits expired, Americans are paying $780 more per year for health care, as health care costs have more than doubled on average for 22 million Americans this year.

Trump and Vance have already spent $25 billion on the war - about $1 billion per day - which could have funded a year of health care for 3.1 million Americans. Now they're pushing for another $200 billion in taxpayer dollars for their war that has no clear end in sight.

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

"Donald Trump and Republicans already made the largest cuts to health care in history, causing health care costs to skyrocket for millions of Americans while billionaires and big corporations get massive tax cuts. Now, Republicans want to slash even more health care funding for working families to pay for their war with Iran. After promising on the campaign trail to stop the endless wars, reduce the national debt, and lower costs, Trump and JD Vance have done the opposite: putting everyday Americans on the chopping block to wage their deadly and costly war of choice."

On the campaign trail, Trump and Vance promised to stop endless wars. In 2024, Vance said, "Our interest, I think very much, is in not going to war with Iran, right? It would be a huge distraction of resources. It would be massively expensive to our country."

Trump's deadly and costly war has already claimed the lives of 13 American service members and injured more than 300 service members, while skyrocketing gas prices back home. According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of gas is up to $3.99 nationwide - $1 more per gallon since the war started.
