$600m and 70 new stores for Castle Towers

QIC will invest more than $600m in the next stage of redevelopment at Castle Towers in north-west Sydney, with construction commencing this October.

The project will transform approximately 30,000sqm across four levels, introducing 70 new stores alongside a 6000sqm rooftop health and wellness destination set to be the largest of its kind in the region.

A major retail development by national standards, the project reflects QIC's commitment to creating experiences that match the pace of a rapidly growing catchment. Already one of the country's top-performing centres, Castle Towers is being positioned to hold that lead for the long term.

"Retail space of this quality, scale and connectivity is increasingly difficult to create in established metropolitan markets, and retailer demand for Castle Towers has been exceptionally strong," said Deborah Coakley, Managing Director of Real Estate.

"Delivering this next stage allows us to build on those fundamentals by broadening the category mix, introducing new uses and creating a more productive and relevant asset over the long term."

Chris Brown, Director of Real Estate Development, added: "Investing at this scale reflects our confidence in Sydney's outer west, where the growth story is only accelerating, and our commitment to giving retail partners the foundation to thrive for decades."

In 2019, QIC invested $180m to deliver the underground pedestrian link to Castle Hill Metro that anchors the centre's connectivity today.

This long-term conviction is matched by careful staging on the ground to keep the centre performing while it evolves. Development Manager Matt James explained: "The Hills is growing quickly, and our job is to make sure Castle Towers grows with it - sequencing the delivery so the retailers already trading here see minimal disruption."

The rooftop development will introduce a state-of-the-art health club concept spanning indoor and outdoor space, with a focus on fitness and recovery. As a drawcard for new audiences, it is designed to extend Castle Towers' appeal across more parts of the day.

The 70-strong mix of new brands and improved store concepts will broaden the offer across fresh food, sport, footwear, fashion and dining, complementing the centre's established design precinct and forthcoming lifestyle openings.

Completion is anticipated in late 2029, with the centre remaining operational as works progress.
