GREENSBORO, NC (April 9, 2026) - Greensboro Police arrested and charged a 24-year-old man with first-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting earlier today.
At approximately 10:43 a.m. today, Greensboro Police, Greensboro Fire, and Guilford County EMS responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 block of East Carteret Street. Officers found Jimmy Neve, 61, with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. Officers and fire personnel attempted lifesaving measures, however, Neve died of his injuries at the scene.
Homicide detectives responded to begin a homicide investigation. Detectives located evidence and witnesses that identified the offender as 24-year-old La'Quan Deandre Nora.
Members of GPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) and Violent Crime Reduction Team (VCRT) began a search for Nora, located him in the 1700 block of Brighton Street, and arrested him without incident.
Nora is charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of felony breaking and entering to cause terror, and two counts of discharging a weapon into occupied property. He was taken to the Guilford County Jail and held with no bond.

This is the city's fifth homicide of 2026.
This is an active investigation. Additional details are not immediately available for release at this time.
