Northwest Missouri State University's African Student Organization will again present "A Taste of Africa," a showcase and celebration of African culture, at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 2, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom.
Tickets are $15 and should be reserved before Wednesday, April 1, by visiting the Center for Engagement and Community Connection on the second floor of the J.W. Jones Student Union or online by clicking here.
The event, which is open to the public, will feature art, music, traditional African food and a fashion show. The menu will include jollof rice, injera, fufu, eforiro, chapati, samosas, puff puff, plantain and a selection of chicken and fish dishes.
"We hope that people who attend this event leave with a greater appreciation for the richness and diversity of African cultures," Onkarabetse Koikanyang, a junior psychology major from Pretoria, South Africa, said. "Beyond just the food, the event showcases different forms of celebration across the continent. Our goal is for attendees to not only enjoy themselves but also learn something new and feel more connected to cultures that may be different from their own."
