The Asotin area and Kamiah area will be impacted by a PSPS today.
SPOKANE, Wash., July 25, 2026 - Due to forecast extreme weather conditions, including a red flag warning, Avista will shut off power in the Kamiah area and the Asotin area to help reduce wildfire risk.
We understand this is disruptive and appreciate our customers' patience. Customers impacted by this proactive public safety step will receive direct communication from Avista.
The Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) is expected to begin at the following times today, Saturday, July 25:
Once power is turned off, Avista will not restore service until the high wildfire risk has passed and conditions are safe. Before power can be restored, crews must inspect affected power lines and equipment to ensure they can be safely re-energized.
As soon as conditions allow and inspections are complete, Avista crews will work as quickly and safely as possible to restore service. Crews will manually patrol lines and may use drones to assist in the patrol in some areas.
With weather forecasts available on Friday, impacted customers in the Asotin area were contacted yesterday. At that time, weather forecasts for the Kamiah area did not warrant a potential power shut off. As of now, those forecasts have changed for Kamiah, resulting in the need for a Public Safety Power Shutoff. Impacted customers will be notified directly by Avista.
