City of Santa Fe and Employee's Union AFSCME Reach Favorable Agreement

SANTA FE, NM, September 19, 2025- AFSCME union employees working for the City of Santa Fe will soon see pay raises, a retention incentive, and an increase in allowances after the approval of a collective bargaining agreement this week.

"This contract is a big deal and a big win for Team Santa Fe. We value our AFSCME employees, and this agreement demonstrates that commitment. With this agreement, we can continue to build our workforce and our culture. It will help make Santa Fe the employer of choice for talented workers who want to make a difference in the services we provide to our residents. I want especially to thank the members of our negotiation team for their patience and dedication during this process," says Mayor Alan Webber.

Under the new contract AFSCME employees will see the following benefits:

  • Hybrid parity salary increases
  • A 3% salary increase
  • One-time retention payment of $1,000
  • Increase tool allowance from $400 to $700 per year
  • Increase uniform allowance from $500-$700 per year
  • Increase safety footwear allowance from $200 to $400 per year
  • Increase pay for shift differential
  • Increase to bilingual pay incentive from $40 per month to $100

Both teams worked diligently and reached agreement on Monday, September 15, 2025 and AFSCME membership voted to adopt the new contract, which will be in effect through June 2027. The collective bargaining agreement will now go before the City of Santa Fe's Finance Committee on Monday, September 22nd for review.
