IDNR to host two additional public meetings for 2026-2030 south zone waterfowl seasons

SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) will host two additional public meetings in Illinois' south waterfowl hunting zone in response to hunter feedback regarding the timing of the duck season split for 2026-2030.

All south zone and current south-central zone waterfowl hunters are encouraged to attend either of the following meetings to contribute to IDNR's information-gathering process:

Wednesday, Nov. 12

6-8 p.m.

Southern Illinois University

Lawson Hall, Room 151

1075 Lincoln Drive, Carbondale

Thursday, Nov. 13

6-8 p.m.

Carlyle High School

Cafeteria and commons area

1461 12th St., Carlyle

Waterfowl zone boundaries have already been determined for the 2026-2030 seasons; thus, these meetings are to gather information on season timing, split length and split timing. Advance registration is not required.

New zone lines and season dates will not take effect until the 2026 season. A map of waterfowl zone lines for the 2026-2030 seasons can be found online.
