Chinese Consul General in Perth Fu Lihua Visits the Western Range Iron Ore Project

On June 3 2026, Consul General Fu Lihua, accompanied by Consul Yang Xiuqing, visited the West Range iron ore project located in the Pilbara area of Western Australia, a joint venture between Baowu and Rio Tinto and held talks with Amy Brodie-Hall, General Manager of Joint Ventures Iron Ore Rio Tinto; Zhang Yong, Managing Director of Baosteel Resources Australia; and Rachael Eppen, General Manager of Greater Paraburdoo Mine.

Consul General Fu was briefed on the production and operation of Western Range, conducted an in-depth on-site inspection, and highly commended the project's significance. She encouraged Baowu and Rio Tinto to uphold the spirit of sincere cooperation, continue to ensure safe production and operation of the project and contribute to mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Australia.

Ms Brodie-Hall emphasized that Rio Tinto cherishes its long-term, mutually beneficial relationship with China and will work together with Baowu to operate Western Range successfully, promoting mutual benefit and win-win outcomes for China and Australia.
