Man Wounded Thursday Night on Winton Drive Has Died; Suspect Identified & At Large

A man shot shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday at 4420 Winton Drive in Antioch has died, and detectives have obtained arrest warrants against the suspected shooter, Jonathan A. Gonzalez, 21.

The deceased, Alexander E. Sanchez-Montilla, 41, suffered gunshot wounds to both legs. He was airlifted from Stonecrest Medical Center in Smyrna to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, where he died early today.

Sanchez-Montilla reported being shot after telephoning 911 Thursday night as he was being driven by a friend to Stonecrest on I-24.

The investigation to this point shows that Sanchez-Montilla was driven to the Winton Drive residence to purchase a vehicle that had been listed on Facebook Marketplace. Sanchez-Montilla went into the garage of the home for several minutes before gunshots were heard. He was the target of gunfire as he ran from the garage to rejoin his friend.

Work on this case during the night by Specialized Investigations Division detectives led to the identification of Gonzalez as the suspected shooter. Arrest warrants were issued overnight charging him with attempted criminal homicide (which will be amended to criminal homicide with the passing of Sanchez-Montilla), felony reckless endangerment, aggravated assault, use of a gun in the commission of a dangerous felony, and vandalism.

Anyone seeing Jonathan A. Gonzalez, also known as Juan David Gonzalez, or knowing his whereabouts, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000.
