Auckland Choral | A Call For Peace

A concert event bringing together themes on the harsh realities of war but with a unified hope for peace and reconciliation.

WORKS to be performed

  • Karl Jenkins, The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace | For Choir, Soprano, Brass Band and Organ
    One of the most performed choral works of our time. Tracking a journey from the anticipation of battle to the devastation of war and the hope of reconciliation.
  • David Hamilton, A Call to Arms | For Choir, Baritone and Brass Band
    Based on poetry from soliders, nurses and conscientious objectors, written by Auckland based composer David Hamilton.
  • Fendall Hill, Perspectives from Gallipoli | For Brass Band
    Written to give thanks to the people of Weymouth and Dorset, who looked after numerous ANZACs in WWI. From a soldier's perspective, tracing the initial exciting of signing up, to the battle, to withdrawing and receiving comfort in Weymouth, to commemorating and remembering those who sacrificed.

Please Note: This performance includes video footage depicting graphic wartime material. It is not recommended for children under the age of 12. All children 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
