Register: https://www.givepulse.com/event/890191-reach-out-and-read

About the Event:

The goal of Reach Out and Read is to expose children and their families to the benefits of reading while they are in a trusted, clinical setting. Reach Out and Read volunteers interact with patients in the waiting room of our General Pediatrics Clinic by either reading to them or helping them read on their own.

Take a look at the available slots and sign up for a shift that will work for you. While there is only one slot per shift, up to two individuals can serve at the same time. Additionally, even though shifts are listed for three hours, you are welcome to come for as little as one hour per shift. Please indicate what times you plan to serve in the notes section when you sign up.

The General Pediatrics Clinic is located at 51 N. Dunlap in Suite 350. You can park in the garage at 130 N. Manassas St. for free. After you park, take the elevator to the ground floor and walk down the covered walkway. You will see the Outpatient Center on the left. When you enter, go straight until you reach the elevators. Take the elevators up to the 3rd floor and turn left once you exit the elevator. Take a left down the long hallway. ULPS General Pediatrics Clinic is halfway down on the right. When you arrive to the clinic, check in with the employee at the front desk and let them know you are there for a Reach Out and Read shift. They will be able to direct you to the books and other supplies you will need for your shift. If you have any specific questions, you can reach out to Dr. Yaun at [email protected] or Hannah Rafieetary and [email protected].
