On August 21, 2026, Acting Consul General Mr. Liang Lin attended the opening ceremony of Taste of Asia 2026. Guests included Alberta's Minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women, the Chair of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, representatives of CNOOC Canada, and members of the local community.
Mr. Liang noted that food is both a reflection of culture and a bridge of friendship. As China and Canada advance the new strategic partnership and cooperation across various fields gains momentum, the festival provides a timely opportunity for local communities to experience Chinese cuisine and culture. He encouraged guests to learn more about China through food and welcomed them to visit China to experience its rich culinary traditions and a country where history and modernity come together.
Organized by the Calgary Chinese Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by CNOOC Canada, the festival also featured a popular charity food booth hosted by the Chinese Consulate General.
