Man in custody after criminal threat to City Hall

A Pacific Beach man is in custody after making criminal threats by telephone aimed at Del Mar City Hall, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

The threat was reported just after 4:30 p.m. Sept. 4. Sheriff's deputies responded immediately and conducted a safety sweep of the Del Mar Civic Center at 1050 Camino Del Mar. Out of an abundance of caution, Del Mar staff temporarily closed City Hall. A public concert scheduled at Town Hall that evening was canceled.

The City greatly appreciates the Sheriff Department's prompt response and diligent work to bring the suspect into custody.

An investigation is ongoing.
