Webster University and Jefferson College Create a Dual Admissions Program for Nursing Students

Webster University and Jefferson College created a program that automatically enrolls Jefferson College Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing students into Webster's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) program. Through this program, community college students can leave the anxiety and hassle of applying for their next college behind and focus on their studies, knowing they are guaranteed a spot in a four-year bachelor program.

This is one of dozens of programs created for transfer students at Webster University that eases the application process and cuts costs for the students. With more than a dozen community college partners and dozens of new transfer programs, Webster has built a reputation as the transfer destination for students in the St. Louis region.

"This program will allow students to be provisionally admitted to Webster while they are still in their first year at Jefferson," said Webster University Provost Michael Hulsizer. "The Jefferson students will have immediate access to Webster faculty and student resources while they complete their associate degree, and then seamlessly transition to Webster hassle-free. We are helping students complete their educational and professional goals and addressing our community's nursing shortage by making it easier to become a nurse. This is just one of the many ways Webster is serving the community."

To take advantage of this program, Jefferson students must apply before they complete their first 30 units at the community college. Once accepted, they will be considered to hold a "dual enrollment" status at both institutions. After successfully completing the associate program at Jefferson, the students can fully transition to Webster.

Students who apply to Webster after they have completed their first year at Jefferson have another program available to them that makes it easier to transfer. Webster currently has an agreement with Jefferson College that removes many barriers for Jefferson graduates enrolling in Webster's RN-BSN program. • Easy, cost-free application: Applications can initially be submitted with unofficial transcripts and receive a provisional admissions decision promptly, granting students early access to campus opportunities.
• Competitive scholarships: Webster University offers numerous competitive and supplemental scholarship opportunities, including the NEXT Scholarship program designed just for transfers.
• Personalized application process: Prospective students are also offered opportunities for personalized meetings with faculty and shadowing classes a class to experience Webster firsthand.
• Holistic admissions process: Applicants can advocate for themselves, even if their GPA falls below Webster's minimum standards. Admission's staff values a student's whole story, which helps critically evaluate a student's ability to be successful.
• Transfer credit evaluation: Every admitted transfer student receives an unofficial transfer credit evaluation, ensuring clarity on how credits apply toward a degree. Webster University accepts up to 90 credit hours.
