Traffic Shift for State Route 20 to Occur on June 29th
A traffic shift is scheduled at the intersection of State Route (SR) and McDonough Parkway, where traffic will be transitioned from the existing roadway to the newly constructed lanes. This shift will include opening one northbound and one southbound lane to accommodate the new traffic configuration.
The traffic shift is planned for Monday, June 29, 2026. Traffic signal equipment will be adjusted and positioned to support the revised traffic pattern, facilitating a safe and efficient transition while maintaining traffic flow through the area.
About Roundabouts:
The modern roundabout is characterized by the following basic principles:
-
Generally circular shape with counterclockwise traffic flow
-
Yield-at-Entry - Vehicles approaching the roundabout must wait for a gap in the circulating flow, or yield, before entering the circle
-
Slow speed environment - Through geometric curvature and deflection, the traffic is directed or channeled to the right with a curved entry path into the circulatory roadway
-
It can be more than one circulating lane
-
In some cases, right turns can bypass the circulating roadway
-
Safely accommodates cyclists and pedestrians by providing a low-speed environment
