The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, met this morning with the #AfricanGroupUN on the margins of #UNGA80 at the @AfricanUnionUN offices. He briefed Ambassadors on the Commission's priorities, including peace & security, climate action, global health & the strengthening of the Africa CDC, food security & agriculture, the implementation of the AfCFTA, as well as Africa's advocacy for reparations & justice.
He also underlined the critical importance of the A3, funding for effectiveness of peacekeeping, & the centrality of Africa's voice in shaping global governance reforms, particularly the reform of the UN Security Council.
The Ambassadors congratulated the Chairperson on his election & welcomed his engagement. They reaffirmed, in alignment with his vision, that only through unity, collective action, & strengthened multilateral cooperation can Africa address the pressing challenges of our time and unlock its full potential for peace, resilience, and shared prosperity.
