APCO International Partners With California Post for Public Safety Telecommunicator Training

Alexandria, VA - The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International is pleased to announce that the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) has approved APCO as a presenter for the APCO course Public Safety Telecommunicator I (PST I). This approval provides the opportunity for California public safety communications professionals to earn California POST credit when successfully completing the PST I course. This approval followed a comprehensive review of the PST I curriculum to ensure it meets all California POST training standards and requirements.

"This approval of APCO as a presenter of the PST 1 course reinforces APCO's commitment to delivering high-quality training to emergency communication professionals, while meeting the professional development requirements of California's public safety communications community."

The PST I course provides critical foundational training designed to support the work of public safety telecommunicators, and includes training on topics such as communication skills, call taking and radio techniques. In addition, the course incorporates the most up-to-date information on technology and work-related issues in public safety communications centers. Upon successful course completion, students receive certification as a public safety telecommunicator.

APCO is coordinating with CA POST officials to secure approval as a presenter for additional APCO courses. In addition, APCO also continues to work collaboratively with other state and local agencies nationwide, offering training that meets industry standards and the specific needs of emergency communications professionals.
