Alexandria, VA - Alexandria Police detectives have identified the decedent in the homicide that occurred on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, as 27-year-old Marquette Holmes, a resident of Washington, DC.
Wednesday, at approximately 6:36 p.m., Alexandria Police officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 900 block of N. Patrick Street. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male and a juvenile male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both individuals were transported to local hospitals. Holmes died at the hospital, and the juvenile was treated for a non-life-threatening injury.
The District of Columbia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the manner of death to be Homicide.
The Alexandria Police Department (APD) has increased patrols in the area, and detectives continue to talk with neighbors and collect evidence.
The APD is asking anyone who lives in the area of N. Patrick and N. Alfred Streets between 2-7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, to provide doorbell and in-car dash camera video or photos to the public evidence portal accessible by using the QR code or accessing the link in reference to APD Case # 26-007165.
