What is a STR?
Short-term rentals (STR) are residential units or a portion of a residential unit that is typically rented for 30 days or less as transient lodging accommodations. These are listings such as Airbnb, VRBO, Holiday Letting, etc.
Short-term rentals are not long-term rentals rented on a month-to-month basis or residential rentals used for traveling health care workers in the community on a standard 13 week contract.
Cities and jurisdictions have differing Short-term rentals definitions. Currently Oregon does not have a standard, statewide definition. Florence City Code defines STRs in Title 3, Chapter 7 as:
"A house, duplex, multi-plex, apartment, condominium, houseboat, trailer or other residential dwelling unit where a person rents a guest bedroom or the entire residential dwelling unit for transient lodging occupancy. Generally, a short-term rental is zoned residential or has a building occupancy that only allows for residential use."
