Annual Messiah Sing-Along and Seasonal Favorites at Staller Center, Dec. 7

Stony Brook's seasonal tradition returns as members of the University Orchestra, vocal soloists and conductors will perform Handel's Messiah on Sunday, December 7, at 3 pm in the Recital Hall at Staller Center. Choruses from Part One and the Hallelujah Chorus will all be sung by the audience! Vocal scores will be available for purchase for $10 cash at the door.

Solo vocalists will include undergraduate, graduate and DMA students Shuqi Yang, soprano; Wanmei Zhang, mezzo-soprano; Yiran Xing, tenor and Philip Chen, bass. Conductors of the Messiah Chamber Orchestra are Susan Deaver and Hanbo Wang. Assisting with conducting are Anthony Jackalone, Chao-Chih George Chen and Anyi Cai. Zicheng Gu is the solo trumpet in "the trumpet shall sound."

Admission to the concert is free.

In addition, the University Orchestra's Brass Ensemble and Festival Chamber Orchestra will perform the music of Corelli, Vaughan Williams and seasonal favorites, including the audience singing with conductors Zitian Lyu and Keaton Walsh, assisted by Karen Li.
