Tegucigalpa, October 31, 2025-The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) held a reforestation day in La Tigra National Park, during which 1,000 native trees were planted. The activity was attended by Bank employees and their families, who volunteered to contribute to the restoration of ecosystems and the care of one of the country's main protected areas.
La Tigra is considered the primary natural lung of Tegucigalpa and a key area for water recharge, supplying the capital. The planting is part of the actions implemented by CABEI to offset its environmental footprint and promote sustainable practices within the institution.
This initiative is part of the Bank's Environmental Management System (EMS), certified under ISO 14001:2015, which aims to minimize the environmental impact generated by the administrative and operational activities of its facilities. On this occasion, the event contributes explicitly to offsetting the paper consumption of the Headquarters Building and helps strengthen ecological connectivity and resilience to climate change.
Over the past 15 years, CABEI collaborators have planted more than 28,550 trees in various locations throughout member countries, strengthening biodiversity conservation and promoting an active environmental culture. These actions are part of the Corporate Environmental and Social Responsibility System (SASC), which guides the implementation of initiatives with a high positive impact on communities and their environment.
With this activity, CABEI reaffirms its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development in Honduras.
