GWSPH Research Day is an opportunity for students, staff and alumni from the School of Public Health to present their work.
The Global Women's Institute honored four George Washington University students for their outstanding research in women's health as part of the Milken Institute School of Public Health's Research Day.
Four students received the 2026 Global Women's Institute Prizes, which recognizes student research that incorporates a feminist perspective to advance gender equality and women's rights.
Maria Bebu placed first in the undergraduate category for her work evaluating a culturally tailored HIV prevention program aimed at empowering Black women to serve as ambassadors for PrEP. Cynthia H. Weinman placed first in the doctoral category for investigating how environmental chemical mixtures affect endocrine and reproductive health in women, with implications for hormone-related cancers.
Kayla Blades placed first in the Master of Public Health category for her research examining burnout among midwives and doulas across the D.C., Maryland and Virginia region. Jordan Amoako placed second in same category for her work examining whether Gavi eligibility status influenced HPV vaccine uptake and full two-dose completion, comparing Zambia and Lesotho.
