Senate Majority Policy Committee Announces Hearing on Antisemitic Incidents in Pennsylvania

HARRISBURG - The Senate Majority Policy Committee will convene a public hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 9 a.m., to examine the recent rise in antisemitic incidents across Pennsylvania and explore statewide strategies to confront hate and strengthen protections for Jewish communities.

According to the Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) 2025 Audit of Antisemitic Incidents, Pennsylvania recorded 281 antisemitic incidents, ranking fifth highest in the nation. Harassment accounted for 70% of all cases (194 incidents), accompanied by 80 incidents of vandalism and seven physical assaults.

The ADL's 2026 Campus Antisemitism Report Card further found that 48.3% of non-Jewish students reported witnessing or experiencing antisemitic behavior in the past year - highlighting the alarming spread of anti-Jewish hostility in educational settings.

"Every attack on a member of the Jewish community is an abhorrent insult to the values we share as a commonwealth," said Senate Majority Policy Committee Chair Sen. Dave Argall (R-29). "We are bringing together local leaders, law enforcement and community organizations to identify practical strategies to counter antisemitism and ensure every Pennsylvanian feels safe and supported."

The committee will hear from local Jewish Federations, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, and concerned individuals dedicated to combating antisemitism, advancing community safety, and promoting education and awareness.

The hearing will take place in Hearing Room One, North Office Building, in the State Capitol Complex and will be livestreamed on the Senate Majority Policy Committee website.
