Bowser Administration Invites Residents to Participate in the 21st Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Parade

(Washington, DC) -The Bowser Administration is inviting District residents from all eight wards to participate in the 21st Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Parade on Monday, January 19 at 11 am. Community members are encouraged to walk in this annual celebration honoring the life, legacy, and enduring impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The parade, which will begin at the Barry Farm Recreation Center (1230 Sumner Road SE) and conclude at Anacostia Park, will officially kick off at 11 am, and residents interested in walking with the Bowser Administration are encouraged to arrive by 10 am for check-in and lineup. This year's theme, "The Struggle is Real! The Fight is Still," reflects the ongoing work to advance justice and opportunity in our communities.

The MLK Holiday DC Peace Walk and Parade is a longstanding District tradition that began more than 40 years ago. It was founded by radio talk show host and community activist Ralph Waldo "Petey" Greene, Dr. Calvin W. Rolark, and Ward 8 Councilmember Wilhelmina J. Rolark, and is organized each year by the MLK Holiday DC Planning Committee.

Residents who would like to walk in the parade can RSVP at tinyurl.com/DCMLKDay2026. Additional information about the parade and related events is available at mlkholidaydc.org.
