Science on Tap: 'Animals Get Arthritis Too,' April 23

This month's Science on Tap lecture is titled, 'Animals Get Arthritis Too' with Dr. Ariel Taivalkoski and will be held on Thursday, April 23.

A bird with arthritis. A moose with a toothache. These aren't just human problems; they show up in animals too. Using research from the Alaska Consortium of Zooarchaeologists collection and the Unalaska Sea Ice Project, this talk reveals how animal disease leaves traces in bone and what those traces tell us about animal lives, human relationships and changing environments in Alaska over the last 5000 years.

Event location - Turnagain Brewing
Event date - April 23, 2026
Event start time - 6 p.m.
Event end time - 8 p.m.
