On 3 June 2026, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, attended the 38th ASEAN-United States Dialogue in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Meeting discussed ways to advance the ASEAN - U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), as well as deliberated on preparation for the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference (PMC) with the U.S. in July 2026 and the plan to convene a Special ASEAN - U.S. Summit to commemorate the 50th anniversary of ASEAN - U.S. Dialogue Relations in 2027. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the situation in the Middle East and its impact on energy security.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary proposed ways forward to advance ASEAN - U.S. cooperation for concrete outcome across security, economic, and social dimensions, particularly in combating transnational crime and online scams, addressing narcotics trafficking, promoting digital economy, and strengthening food and energy security. He also highlighted opportunities for future collaboration between the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the forthcoming ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED). As Thailand is assuming ASEAN Chairmanship in 2028, he reaffirmed Thailand's readiness to work closely with Singapore and Dialogue Partners, including the U.S., to promote tangible cooperation in the region.
