TDK announces high-power-density AC-DC power supply series for compact, efficient, and quiet medical and industrial system designs

TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) announces the introduction of the TDK-Lambda CUS1600M and CUS2000M AC-DC medical power supply series, delivering up to 2 kW and combining exceptionally high power density with up to 95% efficiency and low audible noise. The series helps designers create smaller, more energy-efficient, and quieter medical, industrial, and life science equipment.

The new power supplies provide a power density of up to 33.3 W/cu in a compact 203.2 x 114.3 x 42.5 mm package. This capability enables more power from a given volume, supporting smaller end-equipment designs in space-constrained medical and laboratory environments.

Delivering 1600 W or 2000 W with efficiencies up to 95%, the CUS1600M and CUS2000M can reduce power consumption and associated carbon emissions, while helping to lower through-life operating costs.

The CUS1600M and CUS2000M AC-DC series is also exceptionally quiet, with variable-speed fan control achieving audible noise as low as 35 dBA. Noise is an important consideration in hospital environments, where cumulative noise from devices such as ventilators and respirators, monitoring systems, pumps, and infusion devices can disrupt patient sleep and significantly impact recovery and wellbeing.

In addition, the series is certified to IEC 60601-1 and IEC 62368-1 with 2 × MOPP isolation and has a leakage current of less than 0.250 mA, helping to simplify system compliance, reduce product development times, and accelerate time-to-market.

The series meets Class B conducted and radiated EMI requirements to EN55032, EN55011-B, and FCC-B, helping to simplify system EMC compliance. In addition, remote sense, remote on/off, a Power Good signal, and a 5 V/2 A standby output are provided as standard, supporting easier system integration and power management.
