Director-General of the Department of International Organizations attends the 2025 Foreign Policy and Global Health Initiative Foreign Ministers' Meeting

On 25 September 2025, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, attended the 2025 Foreign Policy and Global Health Initiative's (FPGH) Foreign Ministers' Meeting, chaired by H.E. Mr. Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil. The meeting was also attended by high-level representatives of all 7 member countries, namely France, Indonesia, Norway, Senegal, South Africa, and Thailand.

The meeting was organized under the 2025 theme set by Brazil, "Accelerating the Fight against Socially-Determined Diseases," to which Ms. Jayanama expressed Thailand's support, recognizing that social issues such as poverty, lack of education, and food insecurity are determinants of health. She also shared Thailand's efforts to address this matter, including implementing universal health care and primary health care to support social protection, employing village health volunteers to increase access to health services, and holding the National Health Assembly as a platform for all sectors, including vulnerable groups, to participate in shaping health policy. Ms Jayanama also provided suggestions on the FPGH work process to make the Initiative's work more effective.

The FPGH was founded in 2006 by 7 countries that recognize the inextricable link between foreign policy and global health. The member countries jointly submit a health-related resolution to the UN General Assembly each year and Thailand, as FPGH Chair in 2017 and 2024, successfully led the "universal health coverage" and "health promotion"-themed resolutions to adoption, respectively.
