Unemployment fell by 18,805 in November and stood at 2,424,961, 6.23% less than in the same month of the previous year

The number of unemployed people registered with the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), at the end of November, decreased by 18,805 in relation to the previous month (-0.77%).

Compared to November 2024, the number of people out of work fell by 161,057 (-6.23%). Registered unemployment stood at 2,424,961, the lowest figure for this month since 2007.

In seasonally adjusted terms, registered unemployment fell by 11,881 people.

Unemployment by sector

Unemployment fell in November in all economic sectors and also among those with no previous employment.

It fell in Services by 13,013 people (-0.73%), in Industry by 1,552 people(-0.82%), in Agriculture by 1,332 (-1.74%) and in Construction by 881 (-0.51%). In the case of those With No Previous Employment, it fell by 2,027 people (-0.88%).

Unemployment by sex and age

The drop in female unemployment in November was three times greater in absolute terms than that of male unemployment. There were 14,370 fewer unemployed women (-0.97%) compared to October.

This represents a decrease of 90,705 unemployed women (-5.83%) compared to November of the previous year. The total is at its lowest level for this month since 2008.

Meanwhile, male unemployment fell by 4,435 people (-0.46%), reaching a total of 958,866 unemployed.

Compared to November 2024, male unemployment was down by 70,352 people (-6.84%).

Unemployment of young people under 25 fell in November by 5,476 people (-2.83%) compared with the previous month. This percentage decrease is three times greater than that of those over 25.

The total stands at 188,322, the lowest for that month in the historical series.

Unemployment by autonomous community


Registered unemployment in November 2025 fell in eleven Autonomous Communities. The largest decreases in absolute numbers occurred in: Andalusia (-6,934), the Community of Madrid (-3,903), and Catalonia (-3,119). Unemployment remained stable or increased moderately in the remaining six communities, led by the Balearic Islands (2,534) and Castile and León (1,035).

Contracts

The total number of contracts registered in November was 1,296,203. In November 2025, 534,997 permanent employment contracts were registered, representing 41.27% of all contracts.

Benefits for the month of October

The number of beneficiaries at the end of the month was 1,773,677, 0.9% more than in the same month of the previous year.

The coverage rate of the unemployment protection system in October 2025 was 77.71%. This represents a 7.7% increase compared to October of the previous year. It is the highest coverage rate for the month of October in the historical series.


The average monthly expenditure per beneficiary, excluding the agricultural subsidy in Andalusia and Extremadura, in October was €1,465.3, an increase of €347.8 (31.1%) compared to the same month of the previous year. Total benefit spending in October 2025 was 2.006 billion euros.
