TITANS Unit detectives Thursday night arrested the man believed responsible for Tuesday night's fatal shooting of Sharif Keller, 43, at the Extended Stay America motel on McGavock Pike.
Dathen Horton, 24, who was wanted on three outstanding domestic assault warrants, was spotted driving to a restaurant in Madison. He was taken into custody as he got out of his vehicle. A pistol was recovered. Horton was booked on the outstanding warrants while Homicide detectives investigate a potential self-defense motive in the fatal shooting of Keller.
The investigation thus far shows that Keller and Horton were staying in separate rooms at the motel when they got into an argument that became physical. It is believed both men were armed with pistols. Horton fled the motel property after the shooting.
