Equality California Announces Josh Wright as New Legislative Director

LOS ANGELES - Equality California, the nation's largest statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights organization, announced today the hiring of Josh Wright to serve as the organization's new Legislative Director. Wright replaces former Legislative Director Craig Pulsipher. Wright has extensive experience in the California legislature, previously staffing two Senators and one Assemblymember on a host of issues including LGBTQ+ issues, housing and homelessness, human services, healthcare, labor, and governance and finance. Most recently, he served as the Director of Government Relations at the California Association of Food Banks.

"Josh brings to Equality California a wealth of knowledge about the inner workings of the legislative process as well as an impressive record of success working collaboratively and in coalition," said Tony Hoang, Executive Director at Equality California. "His familiarity with both the broader landscape and the more complex procedural quirks of the California legislature are highly valuable as we continue our work to pass the strongest slate of pro-equality bills in the country. We look forward to having Josh on board as we approach the finish line of this legislative session."

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Wright has also interned for political campaigns, founded an LGBTQ+ student organization at his community college, and been involved in numerous local advocacy organizations. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley in 2020 and resides in Sacramento.
