Dakota State University and South Dakota State University are concluding a four-year collaboration focused on cybersecurity in precision agriculture with a final research and partnership event on Thursday, April 2 on DSU's campus from 12:30 - 4:30 p.m.
The initiative, commonly known as CyberAg and supported through 2022 House Bill 1092, has advanced interdisciplinary work at the intersection of agriculture, cybersecurity, and data-driven technologies. Over the course of the collaboration, CyberAg supported faculty-led research, student research experiences, summer camp programming, and international exchanges.
A signature component of the program has been a graduate student exchange with AI Sweden, Sweden's national center for applied artificial intelligence. The exchange, supported in part by industry partner Case New Holland Industrial America, has created opportunities for students and researchers to engage in global collaboration and applied research.
Case New Holland Industrial America has remained a consistent partner throughout the initiative, contributing additional support to strengthen international engagement and applied industry collaboration.
"DSU has seen great outcomes from this appropriation: new partnerships with researchers at SDSU, new industry partners to support our work, stronger proposals to funders, and most importantly, exciting insights for producers," said Dr. Peter Hoesing, Associate Vice President for Research & Economic Development. "Those insights range from privacy and security enhancements to better detection of potentially suspicious activity on their networks, devices, and beyond. The State will continue to see strong return on this investment for years to come."
Researchers, industry partners, and agricultural producers will gather in the Madison Cyber Labs (MadLabs®) briefing room to hear research outcomes, share insights, and explore future partnership opportunities.
