Eugène Van Kemenade appointed as Head of EUCAP Sahel Mali

On 13 May 2026, the Political and Security Committee adopted a decision to appoint the Dutch Eugène Van Kemenade as Head of Mission of EUCAP Sahel Mali. He previously served at EUCAP as Deputy Head of Mission and brings extensive knowledge of its mandate and the Malian context to his new role.

"It is both an honour and a great responsibility to be appointed Head of Mission of EUCAP Sahel Mali. I am confident that, together, we will continue to strengthen the Mission role in support of the security sector reform and ensure EUCAP remains a respected and trusted partner, contributing to security, stability, and peace in Mali alongside our partners." said Van Kemenade during his first speech to EUCAP's Mission members in Bamako.
