Chipley, Fla. - Beginning Sunday, Oct. 12, drivers will encounter a temporary traffic shift on State Road (S.R.) 292 (Gulf Beach Highway), from Mills Avenue to just east of Patton Drive.
The S.R. 292 east and westbound travel lanes will be shifted to the outside of the roadway to provide space to construct a median traffic separator. Channelizing devices will be in place to delineate the work zone. This temporary traffic pattern will remain in place through late 2025.
Drivers are reminded that nighttime lane closures may occur between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Additionally, the speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph.
This work is part of a $6.2 million resurfacing project on S.R. 292 from Gulf Beach Highway to Manchester Street in Escambia County. Other improvements include:
All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
