Hilmar, CA - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has activated a new traffic signal at the intersection of State Route (SR) 165 and Geer Avenue which is now fully operational. This improvement marks a significant step forward in enhancing safety and intersection control for local motorists and pedestrians.
Caltrans identified a recurring pattern of broadside collisions at this intersection, largely due to drivers failing to yield. In response, the project was initiated to address these concerns and improve overall traffic operations.
The completed work includes shoulder widening, installation of new traffic signals, pedestrian crosswalks, ADA ramps, drainage inlets, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. These upgrades are designed to ensure safer passage for all users and to reduce the severity and frequency of broadside collisions.
With the traffic signal now active, drivers and pedestrians can expect safer and more efficient movement through the intersection. The community is encouraged to follow all posted signage and signals to maximize the benefits of these improvements.
