Congressman Nick Langworthy Announces More Than $3.2 Million for Water Infrastructure Improvements in the Town of Pomfret

Washington, D.C.-May 16, 2026… Congressman Nick Langworthy today announced that the USDA Rural Development has approved more than $3.2 million in loans and grant funding to support critical water infrastructure improvements in the Town of Pomfret in Chautauqua County.

The funding includes two Water and Waste Disposal Loans and Grants awards that will support water main replacement projects aimed at improving reliability, safety, and long-term sustainability of the town's water system.

The approved funding includes:

  • A $1,261,000 USDA Rural Development loan and a $993,000 grant for a water main replacement project totaling $2.26 million.
  • A $545,000 USDA Rural Development loan and a $409,000 grant for an additional water infrastructure project totaling $960,000.

Together, the projects will replace deteriorating water pipe infrastructure and help improve the health, safety, and reliability of water service for Pomfret residents.

"Reliable water infrastructure is essential for protecting public health, supporting economic development, and maintaining quality of life in our rural communities," said Congressman Langworthy. "These investments will help modernize aging infrastructure in the Town of Pomfret and ensure residents have dependable water service for years to come."

Congressman Langworthy emphasized the importance of continuing to invest in infrastructure projects that strengthen communities across Western New York and address long-term infrastructure needs in rural areas. He has dedicated millions in community project funding requests to assist towns across New York's 23rd Congressional District upgrade their water infrastructure.

"Too many communities across our rural district are dealing with aging infrastructure systems that require significant upgrades," Congressman Langworthy continued. "These projects are important investments in the long-term sustainability and safety of Chautauqua County communities and allow investment without any added burden to taxpayers. I'm proud to bring this money back home to our 23rd Congressional District.

The projects are being funded through USDA Rural Development's Water and Waste Disposal Loans and Grants Program. The Town of Pomfret is also contributing local matching funds toward the projects.
